• Aura de l’aura

A nude, but not necessarily; more a body representing a state of mind. By uncovering the body, the author uncovers the person, whose face we do not have to see in order to perceive as an individual.

It is the body that manifests the inner state of personality. It is emphasized by negating the space and by cold colors. Here, the body is an aura of her aura.

  • Time is space

The basic idea of the book is playing with time and personal ‘time travels’.

The inspiration and basis for these works I found in old family photographs of my parents, and then among them I sought for those who would suit the given scene. For example, if in the photograph my mother has two years, I would seek for a photo of me around the same age that would suit the scene from my mother’s. Therefore, the book consists of 7 photographs, i.e. digital collages chronologically arranged. I wittingly traced the “growing up” of my parents.

Due to the subtlety and necessity for longer observation, the option for the book to be presented as an “accordion” and to be turned over from both sides gave some answers. If you turn it over in the opposite direction, average silhouettes in the photos emphasize my parents and me. Also, each one has the original behind on which the year is written when the photo was taken or the name of the person in it, a place where the name of someone who doesn’t belong to that period is always missing.

In philosophy, time is the dimension of sequence of one being after another, things existing in change of their emergence and disappearance, unlike space as a dimension that allows survival of beings, one beside the other.

…therefore, for this work I have chosen the verses of the poem Mesta koja volimo / Places We Love by Ivan V. Lalić that represents the only text in the book:

Kad odeš, prostor za tobom sklapa se kao voda,
Nemoj se osvrtati: ničeg van tebe nema,
Prostor je samo vreme na drugi način vidljivo,
Mesta koja volimo ne možemo napustiti.

When you go, space closes over like water behind you,
Do not look back: there is nothing outside you,
Space is only time visible in a different way,
Places we love we can never leave.
